The fact that damsels have survived for about a week does not at all mean that your water parameters are around or even near 0. It's really not a good idea to rely on anything but accurate test kits when cycling a tank.

I agree with the "miracle" products are not worth the effort. I also heard that if you ad that stuff and ad too much it can cause problems very quickly. take your time, cycle the tank, you probably half way there already, buy the salifert test kits and don't do corals for some time. let the tank establish with fish and get some maturity before you start adding corals.
