Hello guys, Some one heard that I have a great 75 gal. mixed reef tank {which I do and you guys have seen before but it is now WAY better than I ever imagined, I'll be posting pics in a few days} the thing is that he asked me to help him set up his 72 gal. tank. Now mine is going strong but mine has a 20 gal. wet-dry, I removed most of the bio-balls, and I also run carbon most of the time. His tank doesn't have a sump. He has live sand in it now and is going to get live rock. It's been 5 years since I started my tank and I forgot how much rock I have, I just know it's alot. How much do you guys recommend he get for his 72 gal. He is running a Flugal 405 which I don't know anything about. Is this a good system for his tank? Also, which H.O.T. skimmer do you recommend?

I'd recommend a minimum of 75 pounds and 100-125 would be ideal. With the Fluval, he'll have nitrate issues, unless he removes all the media and just uses it for carbon.

As for HOT skimmers, can't go wrong with this one http://www.shop.reeffiltration.com/product.sc?categoryId=2&productId=27 . It'll be a bit overkill, and will allow him to move up to a tank twice that size in the future!!

get a sump :) hes got a great tank. he could get a sump going for a few hundred bucks and add a bubble magus 100 in the sump
