Hey Scott take that he-he, you didn't think I'd remember did you? Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!? That is in 24 hrs, I clean every morning, which i'm fixin to do now. Now if I could just get rid of this really fine gray hair like algae that has taken over the tank, especially on the back walls and tunzes and the snorkals of the sea swirls.

Yeh Matt they are awesome skimmers, as you can see I run mine fairly wet.

Eureka.........LOL. Now you can start your tank thread John and get those pics up. Don't get that skimmate confused with your latte.
Scott

I all ready have a few pics in my gallery, I am going to get some updated ones in there though when I get time to take some nice ones. Yeah just add cream Huh?

hey john - does your have an air valve on it? if so what position makes it wetter? in my logic the more air you have the drier it would be or would it be less air? i dunno...

scott - i'll try to get some pictures after 24 hours. i just cleaned the cup this morning after only 12 hours. it was mainly saltwater from when i overflowed it last night. :)

I have 2 pumps and each had a valve. Mine was always getting salt creep in them from the surface bubbles from the dump tubes from the tank popping so close that I just removed the valves and control the wetness of skimming by the level of the bubbles in the neck. I have mine set so the bubbles come about half way up the neck in the cup. But to your question, from what I understood from that thread mike had going when he built his monster, everyone seemed to agree that the more air the better as long as you didn't go to far with air volumne and I don't believe the supplied pumps can do that. The more air the wetter it skims because it is making more bubbles IMO, but can also be contoled by the level of the bubblesin the neck, 2 way street.

go Matt go Matt ... ohh yeah ohh yeah :D .
I'm glad you got your skimmer :) .
It looks like a monster skimmer so i hope it does the job good and that you don't have any problem with it .

ahh the german skimmers, i just picked up a nice one myself,
this one happens to be built like a tank, absolutely love this thing:p
i highly reccomend grotech to anyone looking for a high quality fabricated fodder smashing work horse. quiet as a mouse too(notice the muffler & eheim pumps) sshhhhh!!!

nice.... i like the muffler. is there just cotton or something inside of it to quiet down the suction noise?

heh- not enough skimmers, must buy .......more skimmers.......MUST!!!!

seriously though, there's nothing inside the muffler, it muffles all on it's own.

matt, may we ask what you paid for the 600? did you get a good deal?

Why are you considering getting rid of the Deltec Turbo 1250? I am considering the next larger size. Is the 1250 quiet and effective? Did you buy it locally? I have heard good things about the performance, but see post ocassionally questioning the build quality. I am trying to get as much input as possible, before making the commitment. Any other Deltec Turbo skimmer users out there?

I am getting rid of it mainly because I am taking my 75 gallon down and setting up much smaller tanks without a sump. So it will be on the market in the next month or so :)

mark - good deal - no....i bought it brand new from doug @ deltec so i paid the retail price for it. the retail price is $814.00 for the APF600. Almost hurts typing that out! :)

yyeeeooowww, good bye tax return!!!
heh- i know someone on here who just spent 2,900 on a bubble king:eek:
thats gotta smart(insert whip sound here)!
but man, $815 is no laughing matter either, you'd think it would be made of 3/8 acrylic for that price, and take out your garbage too!
but i know it'll be one of the best skimmers you've ever owned for sure.
i've talked a couple of my customers into buying deltec skimmers similarly priced, but i have yet to take the plunge myself,
i can hear it calling out to me in my dreams...."skimmerwhisperer,.....where are you??(add echo here)"

in the grand scheme of setting up a new tank it was a small portion of the overall budget.

plus i don't pay income taxes.

well i almost went with an H&S but I talked to several people that had comparable models of the H&S and Deltec and they all said the Deltec out performed the H&S. Only by a little but still.... :) if I calculated it down to percentages I'm sure the H&S would've won for cost and performance. I went with the Deltec for Doug and his customer service skills.
