Hi Guys I have been trying ti Identify these guys for some time. I think they are Periclimenes tenuipes but I am not quite sure. They act more like some form of a Boxing shrimp but I have not found a match in the Stenopus Family but I haven't found any close matches. These guys get along with all Tank Mates except my Alpheus bisincisus kind of push them away from their den time to time They seem to sift the sand and If any fish get close they will hold the bigger pincher's up to scare them off This leads me to believe they are a form of Boxing Shrimp Not the Ghost Shrimp. Any Ideas???

I would say yes you have it right Periclimenes tenuipes

Hey Jeff!! They almost look like what we have here:p I've found something very similar on wodden docks (the same place I got my coral bandit shrimp from) and they are there by the thousands! If you look good in the bucket here, you can see some of them, but don't know the name. They love to eat though:p

Thank you Boomer that Picture you have posted is it! Krish It looks like you have them as well! Hey Krish they make excellent sand sifters ;)

yes on further viewing

Yes Leslie I Agree the bigger guys look like Banded Coral/Boxer shrimp Stenopus hispidus. But the more transparent smaller shrimp do kind of look like Periclimenes tenuipes, However check out ware they are from:
Common Name: Ghost Shrimp

Species Name: Periclimenes tenuipes Dana, 1852

Range: Indo-West Pacific Ocean

Natural Environment: Found mainly living next to anemones This part is unique as I have a Purple tipped Anemone In the tank they are in but these shrimp tend to stay next to rock work and in the sand sifting with the lights on and at night they do tend to get on upper rock work and on corals. They are defiantly bolder with the lights off
So with that said I think what the more clear Colored shrimp Krish had in his bucket could be Caribbean Anemone Shrimp / Pederson's Cleaner Shrimp ???
Again Its hard to tell with out a closer look;)

Sorry, I overlooked the little guys. I'm pretty sure they're not P. pedersoni but like you said, it's hard to tell without a closer look. I wouldn't even put those in a family without a close up.

There are several species very similar in appearance to P. tenuipes in the IP and the Caribbean. Most of them (including tenuipes) aren't commensals so I'm not surprised to hear that yours is staying on rock & sand.
