Here is an excerpt from the invitation given to our members... the meeting will be held on Sunday the 21st of this month. If you have been wanting to come and see the reef scene in Portland, there will be no better chance this year.

The time is now!
Here we are again at the big summer get together, once again hosted by Steve Weast, curator of the Oregon Weast Aquarium.
This year holds a lot of excitement for us. We are introducing our first imported guest speaker (Steve Tyree), we are giving away fabulous prizes, we are holding our "stinky skimmate" competition, we are partaking in a massive group purchase of livestock from California, there will be food, frag trading, and a couple of other surprises that will unfold as the day progresses.
OK, down to the details...
We are going to have the pleasure of listening to two lectures by Steve Tyree, which along with the food and the other events is going to make this a good long event. Start time for the first lecture will be at 11:00 am, which means folks should plan to arrive at around 10:00. This is a change from our normal 2:00 pm start time, please take note of it. Following our first lecture, we will break for food for an hour, and then at around 12:00 we will move into our second lecture. We will then move to the door prizes and the raffles, will judge the skimmate for the competition, and then folks can leisurely move out.
Costs associated with the meeting include: beverages, food, travel arrangements for Tyree, rental of chairs and tables, and a few other odds and ends that nickel and dime the club fund. For this reason THERE WILL BE A DOOR CHARGE. For members the door charge will be $2.00 per person (remember, you can bring up to 4 folks in on a single family membership) for paid club members. The price of admission for non members is $10.00 per person to help cover the above costs. You can sign up for a membership at www.pnwmas.org or at the door if you want to take advantage of the savings.
We realize that this is our first event with a door charge, we hope that nobody is turned off of attending because of this, but we also hope that people can appreciate the cost of holding an event like this, and that everyone will be a good sport and help make the event run smoothly (without bankrupting the club and my personal bank account ).
CARPOOL!!!
REMEMBER:: $2.00 for members, $10.00 for non-members
**********************************************
If you are interested in attending, you can sign up for an invitation through our own club site at www.pnwmas.org, look on the left side for the link called "evite signup"
Also note that there is a reduced entry fee if you are a member, some of you who are more southern in Washington may be interested in joining the club, membership for an individual is 20 dollars, family memberships that would let you come with 3 others are 30 dollars. You can sign up on our site with paypal by hitting the membership button, or you can pay at the door.
Tyree will be presenting 2 lectures, one on captive coral propigation, and one on coral identification.
The door charge covers your lecture, food, drinks, and a chance to meet some of your Oregon and Southern Washington fellow enthusiasts. If you are unfamiliar wityh Steve Weast's tank, you can view it at www.oregonreef.com, or you can check it out in the newest edition of Coral Magazine which hit store shelves last week.
Feel free to PM me for more information. As a side note, as a paid member you have the opportunity to buy off of our list of corals from Tyree, many many Limited Editions that are a couple years out on waitlists. To access the list, you need to be a paid member. All our orders are to be finalized by Monday, so if you want to come to the meeting, and want to buy some corals, you need to head over to our web site and join immediately. We as a club have already purcahsed over 50 frags from Tyree, and there are another 100+ available.
Hope to see some of you there
