Was thinking of checking this out.. the roomba self vacume cleaner....

looks cool!
http://store.irobot.com/product/ind...&cp=2804607&pageType=family&parentPage=family

anyway since its only 179.00 i thought it might be worth a shot... i know it doesnt work like a vacume would but it would add a nice technological mix to the house....

anyone have one or know someone who has one? Ive red mixed reviews...

guess im looking at it as more of a kinda uselly toy

irobot is cool, but dont expect it to make a huge impact if your floors are really dirty. It works best when you clean the floor very very well yourself the first time. After your initial "super cleaning" If you use it often (all the time) it will perform well.

ya.... we didnt do it...

my friend has one.. and when i learned it had to be 5 feet direct sight of the base to return to base... its kinda not worth it...

WHICH model do you have? it doesnt have problems with the inferred thingy? it can go around corners and then find its way back?

I have a friend who bot one and loved it even after having to replace it twice. That is until the forth battery went bad and decided it was too expensive.

A new model of the vacume cleaner was just released this month. It has better navigation software to let it stray farther from its base, and "anti-tassle" technology to stop it from choking on carpet. That said, I have the scooba roomba, I use on my tile floor. I use it in my kitchen, washing room, family room, and dinning room. It can go around corners like the islands in the kitchen, or around chair legs and table legs in the dinning room. The IR with my scooba just stops it from going somewhere you dont want it to (like down a flight of stairs) working like a room divider. My advice to you is if your thinking about purchasing an irobot product wait a few months. This holiday season two new models (top secret oh boy!) will be released for the consumer market.

I have an older one that I bought a couple years ago. There was a coupon code on the Roomba website that was supposed to give $150 off the more expensive ones, but someone posted on another website that the coupon would work on the Roomba Red. That brought the price down to less than $50, so I bought one.

It works great on hardwoods. When we had carpet, it always seemed to get stuck in certain areas that the sensor would say were dirty even if the carpet was clean. I use it every once in a while but it takes a long time to charge. It is nice to set it loose if I don't want to take the time to sweep the floor :).
