Hey all, the local tropical fish store has a awesome cool looking flounder for sale. It blends into the sand and travels the bottom of the tank. Can I put him in my reef tank? He is about 3 to 4 inches long, and what do they eat? I can't find flounder on any of the fish sites? Any help will be appreciated, Thanks Jeff

I would think it would either outgrow your tank OR it would be the only thing in your tank?
Also I think they like cooler temperatures!! At least thats where I've caught them when fishing off the bottom !!!

:)

My tank is 150g and The people at the store said it stays small? Anyone ever keep one of these? It is a reef tank right now. Jeff

Go ahead and get one, and if/when it gets big, you've got dinner!

Besides what has already been mentioned, all I can say is that the substrate for these fishes must be fine, sugar size sand, otherwise they can injure themselves.

I had a tiny flounder for a few months years ago. My sand beat the poor guy up and it is fairly fine.

I have a Carribean Flounder in my F/O aggressive tank and I LOVE the lil guy :) He eats meaty foods such as krill and silverslides. He'll eat any small fish or shrimp (gobies, cleaners). I'm not sure about coral..

Tnx Curt ;) I've had a busy year, but it's good to peruse the forum again.
