Hi All,

Is anyone using Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 to photoshop their pictures? If so, how do you like it? Is it easy to use? Can you get just as good a picture as the full blown version of Photoshop? I know if I had a better camera I could get some much better pictures but for now, I would like something to clean up my pictures more like they really look. Thanks. :)

Chris I just picked up the adobe cs5 kit and it has the 64 bit photoshop in it. You can get any of these adobe products on a demo for 30 days you should give it a shot. Also if you say you are a student (or atleast someone your buying it for is) you can get it for 70% off the price!!

I have almost all the photoshop programs and to be honest I end up using Picassa more than anything...and it is totally free. I don't use the PS stuff much....but I get it cause I can to be honest....:noidea:....let's just say I spend a lot of time :ranger:

Photoshop Elements is quite powerful. Maybe not as powerful as Photoshop CS, but also not near as complicated. Elements will produce as good of results, as CS, for what you're looking to do. There are more editing functions that you'll ever need, unless you're getting into professional photography. However, no photo editing software is going to give you better pictures than the picture you take. To get good, quality pictures, you'll need to take good, quality pictures.

Hi mojo,

Thanks. I'll have to give it a try. And, my youngest is still in schoo. :)

Thanks ReefLogic,

Free is always good. I'll have to down load that too and see how it goes. I think the problem I'll have with any program I get is the leaning curve and the terminology. LOL

Hi returnofsid,

I appreciate the feed back and info. Good point about the camera. I definitely need a better one than what I have. It was my father's and its a Nikon Coolpix 990. Its great for taking general pictures but I can not get the crisp, clear and clean macros that everyone else gets. I've been looking at the Rebels but with the price tag on them, it will be a while before I can get one or justify the expense to my wife LOL.

You may just want to look at Lightroom. Its more of a workflow program for professional photographers. It will perform all the major photography functions short of actually faking your images. Its easy to use and cost much less than photoshop and after the student discount its inexpensive. I'd say its more of a cross between photoshop and picassa.

Picassa is the easiest for the learning curve....simply click on "I'm feeling lucky" and your done.
