Usually the term mysid is used for salt water ones and mysis for fresh water.

No they aren't the same, generally mysid live in salt water, mysis fresh or brackish.
Having said that, though, mysis are mysid, because they are in the Mysidae a genus. The way I understand this is that all mysis are mysid, but not all mysid are mysis.
