growth? I have some of the most beautiful colors starting to grow in my tank but I also have well drab green coralline algae too.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

Do minor scrapings on the good colors and either get it into the water column or place it on the location you want to "seed." There is believed to be lighting issues and such but thats for another time.

The scraping will help promote the desired corraline to spore, so good idea their. It mostly has to do with the type of lighting though. Which ever corraline likes your lighting set up will become dominate no matter what you do.

Ok, makes sense!

Thanks for the answers.
I have some control (not much) over the lighting( i.e. control over natural sunlight reaching the tank) will monitor lighting.

Actually, you have TOTAL control over your lighting...(lighting adjustments are often made by first opening your wallet or purse...)

definitely lighting sensitive. if you have sps you will need light that favors them and certain shades of c. algee will dominate depending on your color and wattage, but you can encourage others to grow by scraping as said.

:p Oh my gosh I have control over my wallet?!? That's not what my husband says.

I've said this before but I hear it so often I have to repeat myself.

Husband - "You are only buying water right?"
Wife - "RIGHT (with conviction)"

Or add names as in The Father...The Son....etc..
