I also used the regular BRS stuff. However, I put in 4 times as much as the recommended amount. This is my second time around. My phosphate was in the 1.5+ so I used a lot at first to get the number down. It dropped max to 0.03 and held stable before climbing back up to 0.07. I was never able to get it down to 0. The GFO was used for not even two weeks before it was saturated. Does this sound right? Anyway, I replaced the GFO. It saids about 1 cup for 64 gal. I have 65 gal and put in about 3-4 cups. My phosphate is at 0.03 atm post 24 hours. It was 0.07 before I put in the GFO. Tank is currently FOWLR. This shouldn't cause any problem should it?

Do a google search for "lathhanum chloride". There is a VERY long thread on a national forum regarding its careful use to reduce high phosphates. A user on my local BBS used it while he was preparing live rock that was dead and dried out, with tons of organic Debris still in it. It was leaching phosphates like crazy into the vat he was curing it in, and he added this stuff every few days according to the protocols in the above mentioned thread and it literally sucked the PO4 out of the rock and water.

my tank has been cycling for nearly a month. Phosphate is 0.03-0.07. I do not want to mess with lathanum chloride now since i currently have a pair of clowns and an angel. I read that having the phosphate too low isn't good for coral. But since this is currently a FOWLR tank, it shouldn't matters to me correct?
