Issues with SPS

I have had a war coral for about a month now and is slowly dying... The tank I took it from was running 20k MH and I was using 3 10K HO T5's with 3 atenic. Now saying that I just upgraded to 2x 20k 175W MH and 3 atenic over my 75g yesterday. I hope it will make a come back.

Just tested again to make sure.

Nitrate is 20ppm and calc is at 400.

Thats not the issue because it has been on the rack close to the t5 lights the whole time. I put it on the sandbed lastnight so it could acclimate to the mh.

20 nitrates is the problem sps love clean water anb high calcium/magnesium id look into the cause for the rates. Jmo

Cause of the Rate is probably due to me having to many fish and haven't had time to keep up with my WC's, I need to re home a couple guys. Ill do a 20% tonight and another in 2-3 days and just keep up with it.

After doing some more reading I think the high Nitrate may also be the reason I'm loosing this battle with Cyano as well. Would you guys suggest dosing some Alpha aquavitro . alpha along with the WC?

I was reading down the page and was like is anyone going to catch that? As bill said it is an lps try moving it to a low flow area, do a 20% water change and see if you can spot feed it. Nitrates are high, i run biopellets and to keep them down but thats another story. I also change 40% of my water monthly

I thought it was an SPS... o well still learning lol, I have the water mixing now and warming up. I will do the change and continue to monitor the coral and water parameters.

I'm only running the MH a few hours until I can ramp up to using them all day.

i also find my war corals and favias like dark under cave places in the tank. just my experience with them.

Upon closer inspection of the pics I'm also concerned about your clam. I'm no expert but I do know when the *Inhalent Siphon* is stretched open such as yours is, it is struggling to survive.

specs as in size?

75G display with 30G sump running filter socks, reef octopus NW200 skimmer, UV sterilizer, phosphate reactor, fuge. I run carbon and chemi-pure. Lights are now 2x 175 20k MH + 3x atenic.

I'm guessing my parameters being out of wack are stressing out a few things in the tank.

Today the feeder tubes were out to spot feed him some oyster feast.

yeah, the clam color is looking better with the MH but after reading what you posted and the link im not sure what would cause the clam to stress like you say it is... Only thing I can think of doing is to keep up with my WC's. I'm about to do another 20% tomorrow.

I wouldn't do the Aqua Vitro just yet. Cut down on your feeding just a little. Try an increase your flow, especially to those areas most affected by the cyno. Continue with regular water changes. Then give everything a chance to acclimate to the new lights.
An idea for acclimating with MH is to lay window screening over the top of your tank. Make several layers and remove a layer every 3rd or 4th day. It's called shading. This way your lights stay on and everything gets acclimated slowly

Sounds good, I'm prepping for the 2nd 20% now. I removed a 500gph power head and replaced it with a 1200 gph head now giving me 700gph from the overflow return pump and a 2x 1200's with one on each side pulsing at each other.
