Hey all,

I've been around, just rather distracted from reefkeeping for the past year. Here are updated pictures of my "ManCave" with the 210 Gallon L-shaped agressive Eel tank. I have two squirlfish, one large lion, and 3 eels: Fire coral eel aka Golden eye aka banana, Yellow-head, Snowflake.

The tank has an octopus skimmer, a wet/dry, ans koralia powerheads. The lighting is about 7 watts of waterproof standard output LEDs in White, green, red and blue placed above the synthetic corals. I feed the tank one a week with Krill and Silverslides and occasional steamer clams.

Enjoy!

BTW: The 280 reef isnt dead and gone, its just dead and awaiting resurrection. I decided to open the wall and build cabinets for easier access. I made the bar/cabinets out of Bamboo sheet and finished it with clear acrylic based finish. The room is now my wife's Lady cave ;) All decor was keying off her direction of making it a light/bright space that is simplistic and uncluttered so she can relax away from the rest of the house. I have to admit, it is quite nice to spend time in reading. Once the reef is running, I'll have to buy time from her in cash ;)

And when you like growing in the hobby of building/woodworking, ya have to expand out of a 1 car garage!

There he is....about time you came out of hiding...lol...Now get working on sanding and polishing that tank of yours so we can start plumbing again.

Love the aggressive tank....so fun to watch those eels and the lion.

Oh yes, out of the "wood work" I come, bwah ahhh.. As soon as I finish getting the roof on the shop, my attention goes back to the reef. Better go buy some elbow grease... and PVC glue :)

that pie looks pretty tasty! is it apple?
You had me so confused until I realized you were talking about the woodcarving on top of my smoke station LOL It does look like an intricate pie crust!! It's actually neat fish scene carving from China my Brother in law brought back from a pastoral sobatical :) To make matters worse the wife just made some plum pie not to long ago.

Hey glad to see ya buddy. It has been along time. Your man cave is awesome. My wife wouldnt see me for days if I had set something like that up. lol

After a year of not changing anything in the Eel & Lion Den I jumped on the opportunity to pick up a Zebra Moray, and a Black Volitan that was on preparred foods. With the newcomers I felt the eels would appreciate some new legitemate dens to nestle in to. I may have painted and sealed the pipe-ends to match the synthestics but I knew that would set the job back at least a week (painting/drying time) so I just got it done. I buried the pipes with a larger grain Aragamax as to not be tossed and redesigned by the tanks flow. The Eels graciously accepted by grabbing a spot within hrs :)

The caves were made out of PVC and ABS. ABS fittingd offer sweeping angles allowing for gradual turns for the eels. They are dry fit, not glued. The picture shows the general just of the caves I added.

Happy campers:

BTW (Reed): I sanded the 280 today going from 1200 to 2000, sanded wet. I'll have it on the stand tomorrow and finish the polishing with Novus 3-1 compound and my orbital..

WooohoooO! Looking great man! those eels look real happy with the new digs. nice job.

And I am happy to hear all my prodding is starting to work. You are definitely going to need a vacation to recoup our arms. That's a lot of sanding. Is it looking good?

Thank you sir ;)

The arms are definately sore.. few more rounds to go. Well in the current stage the tank is hazy, but I shined light along the tank to look for the urchin bite marks and only slight remnants were left in a few areas, so if it buffs clear I should be in good shape.
