We just got a cool new Ruger 9mm pistol with the mag for only 260!!!! We tested it at the place since it had an indoor shooting range. Its very fun! Unfortunately its dads, but he let me shoot it! (I have a firearms permit) :D

Those are nice fire arms, Im still working on getting a Sig P226 .40 cal, also looking at Glock...9mm

thats a good price.

I guess this should be in the Water fountain forum.

But congratulations on the new toy. Just please be responsible and careful with it. I have wanted to buy a firearm for quite some time but my fear of the kids getting to it just deters me.

Ive gone through gun saftey and Im responsible. I got my own smith and wesson 12gauge semi-auto shot gun. We go duck huntin' and we go pheasant huntin'. We had our german shorthair to go through pointing class. Cost alot, but he points well, and retrieves also. We go down past olympia to go huntin'. I love to go birdhunting and also like fishing alot too!

Hey SWT,

Just be sure your dad is with you shooting the Ruger. Possession of a hand gun under the age of 18 is a Felony in WA.
P.S. I had a P-89 that I shot for many years. Great Piece!
Take Care, Shoot Safely:)

if he controls hi gun like he controls his tank, he would be running in the dark shooting aimlessly , lol

hey there are real good gun fourms u should post that there , not at the reef frontiers
this is a reef and fish fourm right, but i do like gun

be safe

JMHO I think the water fountian is open to any topic. I like the ruger pistols, they dont point well for me, my hands are too small for the boxy mag, and I have work to aim instead of my taurus 85 stainless that just nauturally points for me. Every body is different, and that is why they make different things. LOL. I love shooting, and believe a well armed society is a polite society. I hope you enjoy it and spend as much time with your dad as you can. Steve

As an adult I can understand your opinion of this being the water fountain and open for all discussion. I cannot see how anyone can justify advertising their fathers weapon purchase on the internet, then claiming to be responsible.
The topic alone is irresponsible. Handguns are weapons, not toys. Hopefully this young person will never have to see the devistation caused by a single round.
Sorry just cant keep my mouth shut when it comes kids and firearms.

Don

What? You dont think I can handle a firearm? Well thats your own opinion, dont need to be bringing it down on me, and you dont have to be a jerk, its not like im gonna go out to shoot someone! You are so negative on this topic. Its not a toy, I did make a mistake on the thread title, but you dont understand that I went through gun training. I own a 12 gauge semi-auto remington, and I use it to go duck and pheasant hunting, does that make be a bad person? Hell No!

Im not gonna argue with you, I dont care about your comments, because I know I can handle a gun, I aint one of those gangster kids that buy guns to kill people. Its for target shooting, you probably are afraid of guns, and dont trust anyone with guns, its your opinion.

Sorry don, didnt mean to make you hate me, but thats your opinion, and this is mine. People have diferent opinions, and should not hate others for their diferent opinions

*Jumping into the mess with both feet*

JJ,
I can understand the enjoyment shooting brings you. I grew up around firearms and have been shooting since I was about 4. My father would take my brother and I shooting, with a small .22 rifle at a range nearby. One of the biggest lessons my father taught my brother and I was gun safety. It sticks with the two of us to this day. No doubt your father has taught you as well.

The thing to remember about Don's opinion on the matter is this. Its HIS opinion, and he has every right to it. The same Constitution that gives you the right to bear arms also gives him the right to free speech.
Guns are a very polarized topic in our society. Its right up there with religion, abortion rights, and politics. I'm NOT getting into those topics, but I wanted to make the comparison. These are all topics that EVERYONE has an opinion on, and very rarely will you be able to change it. Occassionally, with some perseverance, I have been able to get someone who dislikes guns and thinks they should be banned, to understand my viewpoint about them. In my opinion, thats really about the best you can hope for. Another thing I've realized along the way, (4 years infantry Marine, 6 years bartender, 3 years EMT while bartending, now Law Enforcement) is that when people get very emotional in a discussion, they wind up looking foolish to the people they are having the discussion with. If you can maintain calmness and be rational in the face of their blustering rant, (on either side!!), you usually end up better for it.

Enjoy your fathers new pistol. If you enjoy it safely, you set an example to others and can pass on that enjoyment to those around you. Kinda like this hobby....sort of...

I like the new Ruger P345 from what I've seen of it. Havent held one yet, but it looks very nice. I wish they would make a P340...my department needs new duty weapons here soon.

Nick

Yea, my post before that I was explaining to don that thats his personal opinion and this is mine, and people have diferent opinions on thing. Thanks nick, thought everyone was gonna turn bad on me LOL

SWT, saying someone doesn't have to be a jerk about something puts them on the defensive and your point will never make it across.

I believe maxx said it best about discussing things calmly. One thing I learned in debate class was that no matter what your topic was the more facts you have to prove your point and the more educated you can communicate those points the more people will be open to it. As a matter of fact one of my discussions was gun ownership. I was pro and my partner was anti. She creamed me because she had stats and facts and made her points. All I had were what courses that were available for gun safety and practical uses. Trust me the next time I was ready for a debate. I learned that you can communicate with anyone on any level about anything if you are as open to their point as you want them to be about yours.

Serving in the military during Desert Storm I know what a weapon can do in the anyone's hand. Even today if you look at the news we are bombarded with pictures of kids in Iraq with guns aimed our service men and women. Gangs here at home paint the same picture. Unfortunately we tend to think stereotypically and if one does it so do they all! So you may not be able to change another person's opinion but you can give them some information to balance out their decision making process.

In my initial post I was just sincererly hoping that your are careful with your new weapon. I feel better knowing that you have been through several safety courses and that your dad accompanies you whenever you are out hunting. That is what we mean about being responsible. So keep up the good work.

I am not up for a debate on the Constitution for one. But you made a blanket statement by saying "Now, that's funny. One of the most misunderstood parts of the Constitution." and I was just curious what your view was on it.
