This is my last question on my flow guys...I promise:)

I added more rock last night, added a Tunze (without the magnet mount until it gets here hopefully Tuesday) and figured why not another picture to get some feedback on my Seio's new placement or if to use them at all...

As it stands, I have them pointing directly down at the back of the tank and it's pushing the water down, to the front of the tank and then back up at the front glass, where it meets the flow of the Tunze which carries everything around the tank in a circle. I am also going to add another Tunze next week (for sure) to put on the opposite end of the tank to circulate even more water around the tank. I figured why use a spray bar to push detritus to the front, when I have 2 spare 820 gph Seio's (which has already pushed the remainder of the sand I missed when going bb to the front of the tank so that I can remove it). I had planned to take the Seio's out and just run the 2 Tunze streams, but I may keep them in depending on the feedback and how the flow is looking after adding the second Tunze...And then don't forget, I've got the sea-swirl as well (@ 700 gph)...Anyone have any thoughts or constructive criticism? I was going to put this in my tank's thread in the members showcase forum, but felt I'd get more views and opinions here...

Any help will be greatly appreciated so I can put this on-going flow issue to rest. Thanks guys.:)

Can you put the Tunze on a controller?
Drop the Seios down the the bottom on each side and see what that looks like when you add the other Tunze.
I wouldn't add any more rock for a while until you figure out what's goin on!

Not the one I have now. It is all out 1600 gph. The next one will be with the controller and a little more powerful (1850 gph).

Do you mean lower them and still point them at the tank bottom?

I'm finished with adding rock. I just added the 3 pieces you see at the bottom to fill it in a bit (the only white ones). I was getting a little tired of seeing the huge open spaces at the bottom so I put them in.

Thanks for the quick reply Charlie. Don't forget the PBA is on tomorrow;)

OK, the one you are gonna have on the controller, you get to figure that one out. I would go ahead and let it go full bore until you figure out what the seios are doin down on the bottom. The reason you may want to move those new pieces in the future is that they may inhibit your flow on the bottom.

The camera's batteries are finished. This was the only shot I was able to get of the tank from the side. Maybe this will give you guys a better idea of the space between the rocks and the tank walls. The Tunze is hiding on the other end, but when I get the magnet mount, I can lower it a bit and bring it slightly forward and oh yeah...GET MY CANOPY BACK ON!!!!

I guess we were posting at the same time(LOL) I'm pretty set on the Tunze's placement. The bigger one on the controller, will go where the one I have now is. The one I have now, I will put on the otherside and direct the flow to the back side of the tank. I tried this same setup with using 1 single Seio as the guinea pig and the flow and circulation looked pretty good ad I figured with using the tunze, it will be even better. I really don't want or have to use the Seio's. I just had them I wondered if I could make good use of them.

I know giving someone help on a flow issue is tricky because you can't really look at a persons tank by a picture and say, "Oh yeah, that will work right there" because a picture won't show water movement and dead spots. I was just hoping on a "theoretical" basis that I could get some opinions on what might work best. In any event, I clean like mad weekly, so what the flow doesn't get, I'll get!

It is hard to say, being you got them I'd just use them I know looks is something to consider but after a while they just seems to fade in the back-ground & turn purple hopefully, also when you load it with corals your eyes will be focused on them. It is good idea to have the bottom water moving like that also. 2cents worth

I'm not a flow expert and you sure are gonna have tons of flow (next time your fishes are gonna be flying out of the tank :p).
i'd do what Charlie says and since i know you kind of wanna hide them, put your Seios down kind of facing the rocks or at least one, behind your rocks.
(or you can just send them to me with your tank if you change your mind :D i'll split with loohunter)
forget the canopy and go hang your lights, it'll keep the tank cooler :D.

That's kind of why I said keep the seios down on the bottom, I don't think it would hurt anything. You always have the option of removing them.

You don't want to be in the tank too much, that's what gets a person into trouble. Believe me, I know!!!!

Thanks Scooter Gabby and Charlie for your input. I am a freak when it comes to seeing crap in my tank that's why I wanted to take them out or even more, get acrylic so I can drill.

I know what you mean Charlie about putting your hands in the tank and getting into trouble. I have stacked and balanced rocks remember...When I start a domino effect going, I wished I had a few more hands in there or wished I didn't mess with it in the first place. I'm soon going to toss the whole tank out in the street and start over with acrylic. Or bust the tank with a bat and tell my wife the glass was "dry rott" or something(LOL) I'd buy acrylic right now if I could, but getting them here to the Bahamas in one piece is another story so I'm trying to make due with what I have. I'll see how it goes with the other Tunze. My fish are struggling as it is now(LOL) I don't think they could take the 2 tunze's as well as the Seios...

all i'm saying is.. i see a good spot for a seio .

LOL...I see a good spot for my tank too, but I'd get my post edited by Rf staff:shock:

Oh, BTW...Look at the 2 pics. That's some good stacking hey? Should have been a magician or a circus clown:D

Naww...I wouldn't break it. It would make a great sump for a 6 footer!

About the Seio's again, I'm hoping I don't need them. The Tunze's are huge, but they are Tunze's...I mean they are just cool to have:cool: I'll probably get rid of the seios and if I need more flow, then I'll get another Tunze! Although those vortech pumps may be the ticketk to hiding a powerhead behind my rocks...

LOL...Yeah right! I want to try the drilling, tie strap and acrylic rod thingy one day and see what cool shapes I can make. One of these days...

I have a funny feeling this thread is heading to the water fountain soon
