Keeping tanks in apartments

Well it will be the only piece of furniture in my living room , Until i trade one of my tanks for a large screen tv

I decided to tweak my new 33 cube by inserting a scheet of acylic in the back of the tank to create over flow effect within the tank. this will be like in-tank sump. so my question is, what kind of protein skimmer can I fit in there? I was looking at the Romera skimmers. Should I get a in-sump skimmer? or hang-on skimmer and just have the power head in the sump?
Please give me an advise.
