Kelan's 24g

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Just bumped up my LED intensity to:

White: 25%
Royal Blue: 35%
Blue: 35%

We will see how the corals react.

They were only on for an hour at that intensity yesterday, but the tank overall looks much better just because there was additional light. It seems that many people get anxious and start too high and bleach out their corals and give up on LED's so I am taking my time, 5% increase each week until I find a happy spot. I am super excited to see how this light performs. I had a little alk spike last week and I am trying to get this tank stable, which isn't helping.

Welcome to the reef world Kelan ;) ;). It is a never ending battle to keep levels where we want them, and smaller tanks can be just a plain B****.

I just wondered how your sps were reacting to things?

Polyp extension is slowly getting better, but no color change, encrusting or necrosis as of yet but they are still getting used to this tank. I will try and get some pics tonight.

Give em time on the encrusting thing, the first one to adjust will be the green mille, that thing is a freaking weed. One thing, the type of flow you have is just as important as anything else Kelan. Just thought I would throw that in to confuse the issue a little more....................................lol.

I love confusing the issue!
