Before and After

I bought these two little montis from the same guy who sold me the chalice. They were small, cheap, and he said they'd be hardy. The green one sure is!

I'm never as careful as I should be when I move things around or clean the tank, and I always seem to knock a piece of monti, acro or chalice off in the process. Here's what happened to one of those tiny chunks.

Before and After

The red monti hasn't done quite as well - I had it under a LED spotlight, and it bleached a little bit - but it's starting to turn around.

Feb 2013 I glued a magnet onto the bottom of the rubble the coral is growing on, so I can suspend it up on the side of the tank.

Whew, that's enough for tonight! My favorite pair is the last two Acropora pictures, with the branches on the right in February that were just little bitty polyps in November. I wonder how they decide which polyps will become new growth tips, and which will stay as part of the branch?

Amazing what good lighting does. Very pretty tank.
I love the coraline growth in the last pic.
That is coraline, isnt it?

Yeah it is. It's funny, everyone I've had over to see my tank asks the same thing - is plating coralline algae like that not common? That particular bunch of it keeps growing into a bigger pillow, but always has the bleached out leaves in the center of it:
<a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Dlj2NmHAG7DCKQtWMknrceJLcLn42KD3flOXlU4QCQs?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-fY93DxmtAqc/UQ38RnPoPHI/AAAAAAAAKhE/yFVZrvm8HKo/s640/IMG_0656.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a>

Any ideas why? I haven't kept close enough records to determine if the white leaves ever regain color, or if they die and get overgrown from the pink areas.

Beautiful tank, I noticed no fish? I will have to try different light combos as well as I have not been happy with my coral colors. Thanks for sharing.

I have three fish: green chromis, gold striped maroon clown, and yellowtail blue damsel. They all seem to have hidden from my photos though, didn't they? Here's an older shot of the three of them:
IMG_0255.JPG

I inherited the clown and chromis from a friend, so they were already 10 years old or more when I got them. I would have liked to track the growth of the fish through time too, but they were basically full grown when I met them.

Maybe they are camera shy.

Beautiful photo! Is he poised vertically? Is that typical for them?

I can get fish shots only if I pretend I'm not trying - if they think I'm trying to get them in a particular pose, they will hold it until just before I hit the shutter. The clown especially!

Yep. he's a beauty and the boss of the tank. He likes swimming back and forth and just spreads his fins in all their glory. He is my wife's favorite and the most colorful in the tank.
