Right now i have a piece of tupperware in there with a square cut out of the lid with some bait in it. I am hoping that he will get in there and wont be able to get out because I didnt cut the square completely out. I only cut 3 sides and bent down the flap. So far no luck but at least my cleaner shrimp and fish arent getting in there.
 
Knowing me, I would have moved all that rock till I found him and caught him LOL :p! Can't believe you are still after this guy. That's crazy!!

Just a thought. How about a tangle ball of light fishing line with bait in the middle hanging on or near the bottom. As the crab goes for the bait it gets tangled in the fishing line. I've seen this work with a fishing pole casting out for crabs on the coast.
 
get some interceptor that we use to treat SPS red bug, crush it to fine powder then mix or soak with your bait. I am sure the crab will die (or at least pass out LOL) with one bite out of it. No harm to fish and corals. the risk is that your hermit crabs or shrimps might be killed eating the bait too.
 
I think I am going to go with the jello option! It just seems so much more relaxing! :D I will boil him if I get him out. I have tomorrow off of work so I think I may be tearing my tank apart to get him. I would try the fishing line ball my my other fish are too curious for their own good and would get tangled in it as well. Maybe I will stay up with a red light again and a bottle of captain to keep me company while I try to spear this pig! Anybody got a shark with a laser beam on his head I can deploy into my tank?! It would make things so much easier.....:frusty:
 
I think a late night and a bottle of captians is the best Idea yet. I would wish you luck, but I think you will be having boiled crab before you finish the bottle.
 
a parachute net. a square peice of net with rope or string tied to the corners and joined together with a single string tied to the four others. so when you pull it up it makes a "parachute" around... well your crab. usually a fish. I used one as a kid to catch a 16in large mouth Bass while leaning over a dock.
 
May i suggest the easiest of all the options.

Maybe a mirror at his front door would get him out of there?
I cant wait to see this booger on the end of a spear. Although I will miss this drama. Now that I think about it I'm rutting for the crab for atleast an other week!!! LOL
 
Cant see red light my butt! I dont know if it was just the glow from the head lamp its self but i would get close to the little Ba$%@&* he would scoot away into the rock work. The down side to using the parachute idea is he never goes on the sand bed. He hangs under the rocks and then scoots from rock to rock upside down underneath them. I got really impatient and picked up my huge mushroom rock with the clowns hosting in it, and as soon as I put my hands on it to lift he jumped ship. :frusty: So i got a nice steak knife and have all day to get close enough to shank him! This time with out the captains...Maybe I will be a little more successful....:lie: This is awesome, I am being outwitted by a crab....My ego is in the sewer now...Way to go crab.

Hay I'm back on the ball of fishing line. What if you cut the bottom out ot a two liter pop bottler run the line through it and pull the fish line ball up in it, then put the bottom of the bottle next to your crabs hide out. This should keep the fish out and maybe the crab in.
