The LFS would dry it out for a few days after then rinse again before using. I used a few smaller pieces just after drying out. You don't need much in a tub to do the job, like a cup or so. I never ran test or got into detailed testing of this, it is a last resort, lr IMO I wouldn't never just throw it away, If you can find others ways that works, then I'd try that first.
 
Have you seen any Isopods lately? I will have to search but it seems like 4 months is the magic number without fish for the starve out period. I had them in live rock I got from Fl last year and only found them after they had starved. It would be a shame to kill your rock after this time If the Isopods are playing out now. Without hosts their live cycle is supposed to be completely interrupted.
