Light blue acrilyc sheets

I don't know how mine is going to work out in the long run by putting it on the inside. But when I went to put it on the outside, I was reminded by an old timer, that if you don't want salt creep to get between the blue acrylic and the glass (which you will see), you have to seal it 100%. Plus, if you use silicone between the acrlic and glass, you will be able to see it from the front.
So I decided to put mine inside.:)

That's a really good point, I didn't think about that...

When I put mine on the inside, I just made sure I got as tight a fit to the overflow box as I could. I put a little silicone on the top, but not too much. I put it where it could easily removed with a knife. I didn't put any on the seams by the overflow boxes,( the silicone will show up on the acrylic) but I did silicone the bottom pretty good.
I did have to paint a couple stripes on the back glass (on the outside) where the acrylic met the overflow box, because even though it was a decent fit, a tiny bit of light could be seen in the crack. I used a shade darker blue paint for this.

Just when I thought I was ready to go with the background hehe

Thanks for the tips though :)

When I had my 75gal, I had the acrylic on the inside. I used silicone all around it and then put some weight on it to hold it in place as it dried. Nothing ever got behind it. On my 90 gal, I had the acrylic on the out side and attached it just like you would those Petsmart backrounds with tape and then I got some black electrical tape and ran 3 strips the entire length of the tank where the acrylic and the tank met. Never had water get behind there either:)

i like the look of that Carlos!! i was looking at something like that for mine..i just decided to go the cheap and easy way..i just bought a blue background:D

I would have gotten the same thing but since my overflow box is so big I though it would be worth it to get the perfect match color for the background in order to blend a little. I only paid $30 for the acrilyc so it wasn't bad.
