I went from 175 halide w/ small pc actinic on my 75gallon-

To 2 250's and 120wt vho actinic

Instantly the sps start to color up

But Algae growth is rampant

And Bubbles are everywhere?

Whats going On?

What type of algae is growing? What does it look like (if it's cyano - it is actually a bacteria)? Algae need a few things to be happy....lighting, nitrates and/or phosphates (the main components). You have better lighting now, so that is contributing to the increased growth. Did you have some algae before the change in lighting? As far as the bubbles go, they are probably a product of the algae respiration. If we can determine where your excess nutrients are coming from, then the algae will settle down.

Good news on the SPS coloration!

With a change of lighting as that, I would acclimate your corals. Maybe shorten the duration of lighting period a couple hours. Then increase little by little each week. What are you feeding your tank? and how often ;)

I Had Virtually No Algae Before The New Lights

I Slowly Added Hours For A Few Days

2-weeks Later The Tank Temp Gets To ~81~82 on a hot day

Algae Growth Everywhere It Can Take Hold

Some Fuzzy Green Puffy Algae That Is Out Of Control-Bubbles Get Caught Inside-

This Stuff Is My Major Problem

Came From Nowhere

Like Green Cotton Balls Pulled Appart And Spread Everywhere

Like Some Crappy Muppets Beard:exclaim:

I Feed Very Little Now

I Used To Have Phos. But Its Pretty Much Gone Now 75gallon low fish load - skim alot - has sandbed - mostly sps - some LPS
good circ - new lights making major changes in color but problems.

Tank Troubles since new light include algea and red mite things
