So back to the original question. I was only using 3 reflectors on my 8' tank (supplemented with PC) I did my Aquascaping in 3 islands to put the coral gluing area underneath the reflectors. With my eye I really could not see any lack of light, but in pictures it appeared to be shadowy in between the lights (I made/used the DIY reflectors). I was also using 10k in the middle and 14k on either end, in the picture you can really see the color difference.

One advantage with fewer lights, if placed right, less light hits the tank walls and less algae grows as a result.

I would go for it with 2, less energy & less bulb cost. You may have to place coral accordingly but you will also have good places for less light demanding species.

how much to have you make me one for over the frag tank???

hey adam just wanted to let you know that i just finished up the reflector for the frag tank here are some pics.

it turned out alot better than the first one that i am keeping
