lighting overkill????

Just was wondering what you all thought about lighting overkill. I have a 75 gal. with 48" power compacts 2 daylight and 2 actinics. am looking to upgrade to possibly Nova Extreme HO Light Fixture - 8 x 54W - 4 Lunar - 48 in http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/204945/product.web
or this is a little cheaper in price but less lighting

I have the 8 x 54 unit on my 75 and Im growing LPS and SPS in there but zooanthids for some reason just melt away.I really like the light,if you do light x gallons the 8 x 54 will give you 5.75 watts per gallon,But there are many variables with that... Its really bright.

What about the T-5's? I think I would like those but I know nothing about light. Right now I have 2 96 watt PC's on a 55. They have good reflectors though. I am learning slowly about light. Learned about fish nutrition first here on Reef Frontiers.
