Alright so completely unrelated to the other post a second ago. I came across a pretty good deal on a 175 watt MH bulb, ballast, and pendant that has been used on ebay. Everything is working so I bought it, since it was listed at a really good price. Here's my question though; do you think that this light will be too powerful for my 10 gallon nano and what is the proper way to acclimate my tank to the new light once I set it up? Thanks!:)

Being a pendant, you should be able to adjust the height so you don't over do it initially compared to your present lighting. Start high and gradually lower it if you can. The used bulb might have lost some intensity too. You probably will be fine.

Yeah 175 is probably overkill on a 10 gallon tank even if you hang it a good distance above the tank. I would look at a T5 fixture if you are planning on putting sps in the tank. What are you planning on keeping in the tank?
I think you will be happier not dealing with the heat issues.
if you gotta have a halide fixture, you can probably get away with one of those 70 watt clip on lights. But I still think that even one of those is going to give you heat issues.

alright well it looks like my next post is going to be in the equipment forum to trade for a T5 fixture lol.
