Someone accidentally turned off the switch on my metal halides so even though the timer was working they never came on. The cycle is such that I am never home when the halides come on so I didn"t even know.

I noticed my toadstool turning white and some button polys turning gray. Originally I thought it was due to iodine as I was dosing as an experiment to see the impact on xenia that I can never get to flourish.

OK, now for the question, will these corals come back now that the light is back on ? The toadstool was very healthy before and had great polyp extension from the disk.

i dont know but i would hope that they are on now,.....

give it some time...
how meny days where they off?

I'm not sure. I was off on vacation for a week and had someone come in to perform maintenance. I would have hoped he checked as he was there during the day. I only see the MH lights on weekends given my schedule. Yesterday i came home at night shortly after they would have turned off and things looked too "closed" so I became suspicious given the deterioration of some corals. I forced the timer from auto to "manual on" and nothing happened.

Lights could have been out for over 1 week.

Thanks, I will ease them back into the light of day . Hopefully I can revive them. I was really surprised at how beautiful the toadstool was with all the polyps extended.
