I am currently running a 70watt Halide on a 20 gallon tank. I plan to upgrade to a 150watt Halide. Can there be too much light and if not, then should I somehow gradually introduce the new lighting so that it won't be too drastic of a change all at once. I am afraid that the corals will be stressed from the new high intense lighting.

What corals do you have now? Like Roscoe suggested it is a good idea to run it higher the the 70watt and s-l-o-w-l-y lower it to the corals liking. Mind you, i once had 250 watt about 8" off and i touched a open brain coral sitting on the bottom so........be careful.

I have alwasy acclimated the tank to new lighting by raising it up about 18" off the water then slowly lowering it every other day. I have also heard of people using window screen to diffuse the light! add multiple layers to the top of the tank and remove one every couple days...hth :)
