Limited "IM" feature

Instead of sending a PM, has anyone ever thought about this (or would it be too difficult to add a feature) where you can click on a persons name, if they are actively online, and you can IM (Instant message) them where only the two of you can have a conversation? It would sort of be like Sunday night Chat or would that be a bad idea because then people would spend more time IMing rather than sharing their thoughts with everyone else. If so, then maybe just limit your IM time to say 5 min or 100 characters a day. The reason why I ask is because sometimes you just want to ask someone something really quick and wouldn't be online long enough to wait on a response. Just a thought

I could see where that would be useful, it would probably be another add on package which may run up cost or useable bandwidth but just in case here's a bump maybe one of the bosses will enlighten us

I think if you look at the user control panel, under EDIT PROFILE, you will see this feature is already there....

Thanks Scooter. I would like to support RF by becoming a premium member, but we cannot get paypal accounts easily being a non-American. You have to have a U.S address and bank account and it's quite difficult to obtain one being a foreigner. However, my partner has a paypal account (through his mother-in-law) and I'm going to give him some money to put on his account when he goes over to the states in 2 weeks so I can get premium membership and help out. It would be soo good if you could pay by credit card because I see there are a lot of non-Americans on the site who may also have difficulty becoming a premium member because of the pay pal restriction.

Krish, i told you two weeks ago to just send me a check and ill set that up for you! And i agree that a IMmer would be great, i wouldnt use it, but for everyone else, unless you got a IMmer post record too!
