Man this is a tough decision! What would you guys do...would you buy live rock locally for $7 and get to hand pick it or would you order online for $2 a pound plus shipping and then do a little hammer action to make the right sizes?

Just looked at the site, and if thier average size is between 4" and 12", you may not need to break it up much with a hammer to fit it in a 75 gal tank.

Well what I mean by breaking up is to have the specific shapes i want because I know you checked my member showcase post and I'm basically going to do that exact setup in the other tank but have another setup next to it similar with all the caves

I would do a combination of both. Get cheap stuff for filler and a couple show peices to "top the rock work off" so to speak.

I was thinkin maybe like 25 lbs Live rock 30 lbs base rock? It'll be seeded also by the 30-35 pounds in my tank already

also depends on how much you would be ordering IE. pounds of rock. If its alot i would go for online, if not then buy from a store.

check out the rocks from GARF.org

no bryopsis algae, no predatory worms , great shapes with holes for plugs, and they are light weight. Everything turns purple in a few months anyways. They may seem expensive but they are the biggest rocks pound for pound. I use the arches and have a large cave rock and am very happy.

If I had to buy live rock again, I would purchased it from local reefers that are getting out of the hobby. Pretty much guaranteed to be cured, and probably cheaper than base rock.

I'm just going to buy LR from the LFS, the guy has some that has less coralline coverage which is fine for only like $6 per pound
