I had a few pieces of live rock in my tank that I didn't need any more, less than 2 lbs and so I sent it to my brother in Oregon. Will he have to cycle it again before he puts it in his tank? It already cycled in mine.

If you sent it wrapped in wet news paper then it will probably be okay, but if you sent it dry you will defiantly have some die off. Maybe give it a sniff and if it smells bad then you have some die off. It should still smell like the ocean, but clean. I'm still new, but hopefully this helps a little.

I took it out of the tank monday and he should have it by Wednesday, I sent it wet in a ups plastic envelope rolled up tight and then in a usps priority mail box. It should still be plenty wet.

If it has any die off it shouldn't be too much. I'd prepare for a small cycle depending on the tank it's going in. If it is a tank already established with a good amount bacteria in it, then the bacteria in the tank should take care of anything that small rather quickly and your brother probably won't notice anything. :)

Thanks, he has had his aquarium for several years, actually it is his wife's, and it is well established. He does a lot of things that I now know are not the right way of doing it, but he is my older brother, set in his ways, and he isn't going to change. I don't think he will have any problem putting it in his tank right away.

Naw...Any die-off should be quickly taken care of by the bacteria in his tank especially seeing the tank is established and it's only a little bit of rock. :)
