The simplest way is by Size and shape.
Crushed coral is usually much bigger than sand
(CC is usually 2-5mm, whereas even "coarse" sand is usually <2mm, and fine sand is <1mm.)
Also Crushed coral looks like it's name--it looks like bits and chunks of broken shells and rock.

Crushed coral = bulky small rock-like pieces. picture getting dried dead sps coral and smashing them into small bits.
Thanks!!! I was wonderwing because i saw my moms sand and it lookde like sand!!! Mine on the other hand looked chunky So i figured c.c but i think its sand.. Well now i know its sand!! It the small grade reef sand. Thanks!!!!!!!
