Here are the rule:

Reef Frontiers is first and foremost a Reef Discussion, Information sharing site. Reef Frontiers is not to be used as a glorified classified ad site or to be used in place of other sites such as eBay or Craig's List. As such we implement registration and post requirements in our for sale forums. The sales forums are for one purpose and one purpose only, selling personal used equipment or equipment not needed and selling fish or corals that out grown the tanks or similar reasons. Any other types of selling isn't permitted, these forums are a privilege to being a member, selling to support your tank is considered commercial and must follow the commercial policies provided.

Users are not to arbitrarily make posts just to up their counts so they can post in these forums and is defined as Post Padding. Any infractions of these actions are subject for membership removal. I belong to Plantedtank.net and have 485 posts with 24/100% feedback on buying and selling. So I was surprised when I could not access the page.

Initially, members who signed up here were free to post in the for sale forums on their very first post, but a new policy was put into effect I think it was around June/July of this year which put an end to that. 485 posts with 24/100% feedback is really good! I have over 18,000 posts here and never bought or sold anything in the for sale forums. I think you will find that this site was built more around discussing the hobby itself than really buying and selling items which is why we have these rules in place.

Airphotog, since the other part of the rule is that you also have to be a member for 30 days, you shouldn't have much trouble at all, coming up with 50 contributory posts. That's less than 2 per day. I'd also be willing to bet that the other forum, that you mentioned, also has a similar policy, with regards to the classified forums. However, you may be unaware of any such policy, since you have enough posts to already be over any minimum requirements.

returnofsid, the other forum lets you contribute a yearly amount to be a bronze,silver or gold member and you can get to the swap and shop forum right away. I think that it helps weed out the people that use ir for their personal trading forum. They also will not let become a "serial seller".

Brian, that's a very interesting way of doing things. So, you're unable to access the Classified Forums, unless you're a paid member?

That is pretty much what we are trying to do here. We are a discussion forum first and foremost and are trying to weed out the people that join here just to buy and sell and nothing more.
