Looking for tips on quieting my overflow

I just upgraded my return pump yesterday and now I'm having two problems; ridiculously loud gurgling, and splashing from the hole I drilled just above the water near my return to stop a reverse siphon. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated

put a hose or tube in it. LOL
should make it a lil quieter. Those back siphon holes i really dont use. Just gotta run the return so the siphon breaks or so not so much water goes into the sump. hths

The tube did the trick, now I just have the gurgling to deal with
