Lta Help!!

I got an LTA about a week ago and I have been pulling out my hair trying to get it to stay put. I know that it will move around the tank to find a place that suits its mood but this is ridiculous. I let him float around the tank to find a spot that he would stay and when he became stationary I dug a hole in the sand and planted him in the sand. he would stay put for a couple hours then pull up his foot and go a floatin' again. What should I do? and what if he never attaches? he looks very healthy his foot is in good shape and his mouth is closed, he has eaten once so far and his tentacles are all full. Help Me!!

You say it was stationary at one point and you dug a hole to "replant" it. If it finds a place, I would just let it be. That's the big downside to anemones in a reef tank, they are going to go where they are happiest...whether it's where you want them or not.

It sounds healthy, I think you just need to let it find it's place and leave it. JMHO.

Erik just let him find the spot and then attach himself. if he stops in a particluar place then him attach. give that a shot for a bit, it should work.

Some advice

Anemones are hard to get to attach but once they do attach somewhere offer them some food. Once an anemone is offered food it equates that place with a good location to capture food, at least for a while.

Yes LTA's are famous for doing this just floating around until they find a happy place. Believe me you're just wasting your time trying to get it to stay put and it can be a problem for your corals until he finds a home. You need a deep substrate so it can bury it's foot about 4" in depth.
