vinegar will do the dechlorination for you and tends to be cheaper in large quantities. (learned that from decapping brine)

Ah now that is good news! I am out of prime, but have two gallons of vinegar. Two cups per 5 gallons enough?

i don't remember, but don't hang your head over the container... it releases gas. i've never done it in large quantities... i'm sure if you did a google search on decapping brine you'd find it. i'd search for you but that sucks on my phone...

Well I broke and got prime. I liked the idea of being able to use vinegar, but the more I thought about a gas I didn't like the idea inside the house.

I never heard the vinegar thing before. Not sure if I would want to trust it.
I think I would trust a product that was designed for the task more, but that's just me.

But then I've also read that if you just let it dry, the chlorine dissipates on it's own.
I'd still spend the money on a dechlorinator. lol

Agreed. The rock is going into my lobster tank. It will cycle and I will move my fish over from my current temperate tank. Two fish, about 400 bucks worth. No chances taken there.

As many of you have learned and know, nothing good happens in a hurry in this hobby.
