Welcome to RF!!! Hmm...Mantis shrimps...Why would you think you may have one? Clicking sounds coming from the tank or something else? :)

Well loud clicking is a give away, but that could also be a pistol shrimp. Your best bet would be to look for snail shells and such lying around and try to find him when the lights go out.

Someone with more experience may have better info for you though.

Oh...A mantis shrimp hitting your glass could possibly break it! I've read where they said those things can hit as hard as a 9mm bullet! I had 2 mantis shrimps in a bucket years ago and when I was a kid, and one hit the other and it was lights out ASAP! But yeah, Ron (Detri) made a good suggestion on turning off the lights. I'd turn them off and give it a while and then try and surprise him if it is one. They are really quick and sharp so you'll have to look good:)

Both pistols and mantis make the poping sound you are referring to. Only was for sure is to look for it after lights out. As long as they have food they will not bother anyone. I have removed a few from my tank.

off i can see littie shrimp like things runing by the glass
Pods... Several evenings of flashlight patrol and also look good in the rocks when you feed. They tend to be more visible when there is food in the water
