Say Sushi... it looks some type of Anemone...? i have a simmilar ( allmost identical ) one i found in the underside of my live-rock, i recently had to re-move a fish out of my tank and made the discovery...! the one ihave is about between a nickle n a quarter in size and an inch n a half tall.... kinda - neat...! hope someone has a definate ID of the critter.... cw.

New heads forming on your hammer. Unfortunately they do not usually fair so well since they receive very little lite. My understanding is that they share the nutrients from the parent head. You will see these at the base of hammers, torches and frogspawn among others I'm sure.

best

That's a bud off the parent polyp, and that's how my branching hammer turned from 8 polyps to over 100... :D All my buds have fared well under VHO/PCF....I even break them off from time to time to make new colonies...I have branching hammers all over my tank! :D
