maroon clown

I understand maroon is pretty aggressive, I am wondering how bad it is? Does it chase others all over the tank or does it usually stay in a small area and defend it instead. Is it better with or without an anenome?

What other clowns host with bubble tip anenome? I am thinking about true percular or the black and one ones also, being smaller and less aggressive.

I have a 55 gallon, and I have a royal gamma, firefish, baggaii cardinal and kole tang, they are all pretty peaceful.

I have a small false perc. I thought that if I buy it an anemone then it will do their thing.... My mistake.... So I bought a marron clown because when I saw it at the petshop, it does their thing on a huge BTA.

So excited, so I put it in my tank... This maroon clown is way bigger than my false perc... but to my surprise.... My maroon almost died because of my false perc. It is an unending fight.

So maybe it is still new and doesnt have the strenght to fight.. Put it in a quarantine tank for a month so I can feed it and put it back to its health.

Then I tore down my tank... And I said, this is it...
New rockwork... both fishes will be at the same level.

But still, my maroon is still the looser.

To make everything short.... Somehow, the false perc saw the maroon dancing at my BTA and got jealous. And now the false perc owns the BTA. So I dont think the maroon is aggressive.... But if you are talking about those huge clowns like 2 to 4 inches in size... then its another story.

in general maroons are more aggressive than other clowns, but as with many fish, every maroon will have its own personality. when they feel teritorial, they will kick a$$ on the other fish. in my experience, a single maroon is less agressive than a pair, as there is less reason to defend a space.

I hae gold striped maroon in a 120 gal and he minds his area. occasionally he will chase off his tank mates but nothing serious. As with all fish, clowns can take issue with fish that are similar in shape, size and feeding habits, not mention an affinity to anemones. The easiest solution is a second anemone. Make sure both anemones are pacific. Clowns don"t tend to take to atlantic anemones.

My single maroon clown that I have had for 7 months is very territorial if I move anything to close to him she will nip at me but seems in time to allow others to swim by at first the sixline wrasse would get into squabbles near the clown's territory but now they all get along fine hope that helps

Not so bad

He is defending his territory only and even my hand when I try to rearrange something near his BTA. I noticed that he doesn't like one of my T-shirt Every time I wear it he tries to attack me thru the front glass, even so badly, I'm scared he would kill himself. Albert - That was a SUPER video... and definitely shows the territorialism of the GSM's! They are also known for "re-arranging" your corals, to their liking, not yours! *grin*

wwoouu i liked the video, but one thing that i don't understand is how come he doesn't attack your yellow tang?

In the video he is basically fighting with me because I'm wearing a dark brown colored T-shirt. He probably thinks that I'm another huge maroon clown there.

Normally he acts much more nicer toward other fishes.

I have a 2 and half inch gold stripe in my 55 gallon along with 3 firefish and have never had any problems at all.
