Maxi jet modification

I know there was a thread on here about modifying maxi jets but I can't seem to find it. Yes, I even used the search.

Anyway, who has done it and likes it and who wished they hadn't?? And what exactly did you do....

We're just putting my tank back up and thought about making that change.

Tried that, not good. The problem is, you have to have powerhead in your tank and it gives high speed, not high volume, of water. I changed to use SCWD+close loop now.

works okay but the water direction can be tricky! I had mine on a wave maker, the fiirst cycle went right were i needed it, The second cycle when the pump turn on the opposite way shoot water almost out of my tank.

works fine on mine. i have the powerhead with the modification on the back right wall. one time it shoots water straight down the back of the tank and the next time it shoots towards the front of the tank. works well. i need to do the other one in my tank.

i guess it would depend on the placement on the powerhead as you wouldn't want it pointed towards the top of your tank or anywhere where it would shoot water out of the tank in one of the cycles.
