I'm not sure if this is sand for saltwater or freshwater. I've never seen it so white before, it looks like rock salt:?:. Anyone know how I can figure this out?

Either way, I wouldn't use it in a SW tank. Reason being is the size of the grain. It will end up collecting detrius and become a nitrate factory. Go with a finer sand thats sugar grain sized. I use stuff that is .5mm-1.7mm

In the days long ago of undergravel filters, we used to use that crushed marble as filter media. It is best in the garden out back...

That looks like pure Limestone or Dolomite. Where did you get it form? What does it say on the bag ?

......to be continued.....

Well, I cold talk about how everybody is way on what sand size is and means ;) What most call fine sand is very corase sand and allot of it is gravel. I'll make it easier :D
