went to the lfs to get some melafix for my puffers eye and i get there he recommends pondcare melafix he tells me what to do etc i go home use the recommended ml/gal and this morning all of my fish look very sick does it make a difference that its for ponds or are all melafix's the same?

If you talk to Melafix, they'll tell you that they're all the same thing, just in different containers. I called them about a year ago, to ask that exact question.

one is very slightly more concentrate.
FW i think is 1.0 % and SW is 1.4% I think??
Don't quote me but it's such a minor difference.

ok cool thanks i freaked out and did a 30 gallon water change just in case the puffers lens seems to be getting a new coat on it hopefully he'll make it through it thanks again guys

does the melaflex become inactive after some time or do you have to do a water change to get it out of your system because there is still slight bubbling in the sump after about a week?

you must do a water change and run carbon
your skimmer will tell you it's still in the system as it will bubble like you put soap in your tank

ok shoot i thought that would be the case how much of a water change should be done just until the protein skimmer stops bubbling so much? or should a 25 30 percent change recommended?

yep start with that and see what happens
It might be a week or two till your skimmer calms down..
