additionaly, that fluval pump is not rated well for head pressure. the T inline is highly restricive, so if you like in the future uprgade to a true y fittling. also the flapper valve thingy backflow is even restrictive and imo should never be used with the execption to prevent skimmer overflow when return pump is off. instead I plan that my sump will take all water that drains from the tank, peroid. think about it, if that valve fails, you gonna have big problems if the sump can't handle all the water.

sounds like these suggestions should get you going, but.. i have a blck sponge bublle filter thing from an old skimmer that i never used. i'll see if i can find it if you want.. doubt it'd cost me much of anything to throw it in the mail...from the look, i'm pretty sure it'd fit that outlet pipe.

pretty sure a I have large pore sponge filter for a mag18 you could have for the intake on the return pumps also. but I don't recomend that long term. you want allow any larval pods etc to make it back to the display tank is why.

and you have to clean them... which was my reason for not using it as it was for an HOB skimmer.

Wow thanks all! And this is why I choose to spend my time on these forums..super helpful!

I think ill hit you up on that offer Spieszak, i'll hit you up in a PM about that.

@herefishyfishy wow i did not know that! thanks! now that i do that, water in fact...flows out the top tube. + rep to you sir. (or ma'am)

@kpiotrowski the head pressure on that thing is infact quite restricted. I did some math, and I believe I'm around 1200 GPH which is well below where I wanted to be...which is why i bought an MP60 for internal water movement..regardless if my logic was flawed, no one seems to think more flow is a bad thing. Speaking of that whole system. Being the rookie i am, I designed this system to be easily replaceable in the future...i plan on adding a second sump, a second skimmer and hard plumbing the entire thing in about a year(or, just pulling out the old sump and only having one big one, with a bigger skimmer and room to grow). The only reason i dont do it now is the wife has cut off my usage of the ole CC so we are going with what i got. also thank you for your offer.

Sounds.like u.got some.help.
You should set the water level inside the skimmer body around the neck or right below the neck that goes to the cup.
Let it build up and foam out the top. Otherwise you'll be skimming too wet.

Your skimmer will break in and overflow skimate into your tank.
So u want to set it.low and slowly work it up to were u need it. Hths

Fahzza you are missing one or two very important things!.............................credit cards the wife doesn't know about! :tape2:
