Monti Cap & Emerald Crab

My emerald crab has been climing onto my orange monti cap lately after the lights go down. He appears to be trying to eat something off of the monti, but the next day there are no polyps missing or any damage as a result...

Any one seen this behavior? Thoughts?

Could it just be eating some detritus that has gathered on the monti?

I had a small scarlet hermit climb onto a monti cap, and do the same thing: he seemed to be trying to pick up detritus. Suddenly, after one particular mouthful, he collapsed. A moment or two later he got up, faltered to an edge, finally got off, and took a while wandering away. It's my notion he got a mouthful he didn't like much.

I used to have an emerald that did the same thing to my stylophora. He would climb on it after lights-out but never appeared to harm it... It aggravated me cause it was my favorite coral, so I decided to move him to another tank.
