i just bought a montipora cap for my 28g biocube yesterday and its putting off quite a bit of mucus from the edges of the cap. I drip acclimated it for about 2 hours.

Is this normal or should i be worried ? i

m pretty sure its stressed out from the bag he was in rubbing on the edges of its plates. it only had a 20 minute car ride and another 2 hours in the bag for aclimation.

It also has what looks to be fanworms growing on the top plate as i can see there tiny fans going in and out.

its a beautiful coral i got for a really good price locally

Mine did the same thing. I don't know what you mean exactly by quite a bit of mucus, but it did have mucus coming off from it. I think it was mostly from me gluing it to the rock and having it out of the water while doing it. So yes, when stressed, they release a mucus.

it might be screwed :( its been doing it for about 30 hours now and i cant get the flow right for him and my lps at the same time.

broke down and ordered an mp10 ! hopefully it doesnt take too long to get here. will get the battery backup eventually to since we all know the power can go out at anytime in FLA ;)

well it seems to be doing a little better today but im still worried about the flow. i have a korolia 1 deflecting off some rocks right towards it. its a pretty good size colony with about 6-8 plates winding around a rock. a little bigger than a softball. also has a bonus monti of some sort encrusting the bottom of the rock. almost looks like a sunset that hasnt colored up well since it gets lower light being shadowed by the cap.

well it seems to have settled in ok. heres some pics. the colors dont come through well and the algea looks way greener than it really is lol, but you can get the picture how beautiful a monti it is !
