Any suggestions to move my 120G 6 feet so I can lay some new flooring and then return it to original position? My current idea is to partially empty it, lift it with house jacks and then put it on a palette jack and back it up. I would then refill it, put down flooring and reverse process. Any simpler ideas?

Sounds pretty risky trying to move it with anything in it.

Maybe someone that has actually done this before can jump in with the method, but IMO you may have to do it like you were swapping out a new tank.
Pull everything out and setup a temp/holding tank.
When I swapped out my 180 for my 240, I used two 100 gallon stock tanks and a kiddy wading pool ( 12" x 6' ) , and one 29 gallon glass tank.
Fish stayed in the 29 gallon tank, most corals in the kiddy wading pool, base rock in one stock tank, and rock with corals attached in another.
Everything had heaters and powerheads.
Didn't lose a thing in the 2-1/2 days they were in their temp home.

finn has the right idea with using the 100 gallon stock tanks. I did this as well when I moved my tank recently and had my whole reef in one for 2 months while we got settled. They work really well when you have lots of water to move. Did I mention I have one for sale?

+1 on McFinns recommendation. I had to do the exact same thing with my 120 when I put oak floars down. I had four big Rubbermaid containers full of water, rock, coral, and fish. Plus some extra smaller shallow Rubbermaid tanks. It's no fun but moving an an aquarium full is really risky.

OK. No levitation miracles. I hear you but I am disappointed.Thank you all for your suggestions. I needed more work than just pulling up the carpet, removing the trim and laying the flooring.

I have contemplated ( for a couple years) replacing my flooring in the area my 240 sits and I see no other way of doing it, other than tearing it down completely.
Even though I believe my stand is strong enough to take the stress of moving, if I could just get it up 4" to 5".

I have developed the best way to do this.
1. Call CFI, and order a tank that is 12" bigger in both length and width.
2. Set up said tank in a new location, and move all animals into new tank.
3. Move old tank, and replace flooring.
4. Place tank back into original spot, and restock.

I think this is a much simpler approach to the problem at hand! LOL!
But seriously, I would completely break down that tank, and move it all into temporary holding tanks. Jason

I figured someone would come up with a good plan .

You could also give OBD a call.
They would be more than happy to relocate your tank a couple of times. ( for a fee of course )

Doesnt get any easier, if someone else is doing the work. LOL

IMO best break it down.
