Ok what is the best way to move my live rock with corals and fish to their new home. I have been warming up the water for two days now and using power heads in the new tank for movement. I also have above five live rock in there. LFS said just move everything over because it will be just like a large water change. Most of the live rock moving has a lot of coraline on it. Don't know if I want to move things like this or not. What is your imput. I will be moving about 80lbs live rocks, corals and fish. Tank is a 125gal.

Is this just a transfer of everything from an established tank to another tank or are you doing a transfer, but adding in new rock as well as I'm not sure what you meant by this statement "have above five live rock in there". Let us know...:)

This is another tank that I bought last weekend and also bought a few new live rock out of another tank. They are the rock that has been in the new tank with new saltwater cirulating and now warming. Actually is 80 degrees same as my other tank right now. All I am doing is moving everything out of my 55gallon and into the 125gallon nothing else. Of course everything else will be going also. It is just a move to a bigger tank. I put a new live sand base of no more than 1 inch. Think I can do this all at once like he said or not.

If the rock you got is cured, then you would be more than fine to transfer over everything one shot and be done with it. If it wasn't cured rock, then it will probably have some die-off which may not be too bad. This will all depend on how much rock you have now and how much of the new rock you will be adding as the current rock may be able to support the increased bioload if the new rock isn't cured and experiences some die-off. Do you know how much rock you will be adding and if it is cured or not? If not sure, what you can do is do a little test on the water in the new rocks tank. See what your ammonia and nitrite levels look like. Also, let us know how many days it has been in there as well. :)

Waiting for test results now. There has been probably 30lbs that came out of a tank that is up and running. Some coraline on them. I have at least 70 to 80lbs that is going from my tank to the new tank. All of my rocks are fine and have been in my 55gal. The rocks in the new tank have been there with powerheads and water for a week now. Just checked test and Ammonia is 0 and Nitrite is 0.

Well IMO, everything sounds good especially the test readings you are getting as well as the fact that the rock came from a tank that was up and running which means was probably cured. I think a quick switchover should be fine. :)

I thank you for your help. I have another question. I was just looking at one of my rocks in my 55 gallon and I see a white looks like a tube under and on the side of one of the rock. There is something that is growing out of it. These are a real white about an inch long. Are these something I should get rid of while switching over? Hope these are not bad.

No problem! Any chance to get a picture? Hard to say what it is without a picture. :)

In the meantime, does it look like a flower coming out of the tube? If so, look up feather dusters or tube worms and see if they look alike. :)

When I get back home I will have to check again. Everything I have read they may be feather dusters. Some may be light a flower. I will have to recheck
