They didn't seem to care :D

I decided to take a page out of the Reef Frontiers playbook and bought a DJ Power Strip for the skimmer/return pump/etc :) I first learned about it on here :)

Its finally running :) we had to use some glass cups to prop up the skimmer. At first there were a ton of microbubbles and I was starting to regret not having a bubble trap but then all of a sudden they went away for the most part. I'll see what happens as the skimmer 'breaks in'.

still cloudy, the aquascape will probably change, it was one of those its late and we're tired but want to get this thing running situations :D We were so used to this tank being fish only we only left enough room for a mag float to get by. Right as we finished I realized there isn't enough room to attach and grow out corals with the rocks so close.

I still need to get a pump on the auto top off and hook up the Phosban reactor. Then I'll tidy up the wires. Barrier said they'll have filter socks in on Thursday. I also need to get all the lights ordered and installed.

Yeap, it cleared up. I'm going to pick up some filter socks from Barrier today and I'll take some pics. We waited a couple days to see how the temperature would settle in. We added two smaller blue hippo tangs yesterday. I started acclimating them but had to leave, my dad said they didn't move much and 'fell' straight into the rocks and didn't come out. I'm hoping when I stop by later today they'll be doing well.

I brought some chaeto from my fuge at home in and it had a couple star fish in it. It tumbles really nicely in my Dad's fuge. We're bringing in some live rock from my tank today as well.

I ordered the lights from Steve's LEDs. 91 3watt Actinic Royal Blue 455nm LEDs and 49 3watt Ultra cool white 10,000k LEDs for the display tank, then 14 3watt midday ultra white LEDS for the refugium. Using 90* lenses on all of them.

It's awesome we don't have to use a chiller on this tank now :) I set the heaters to 78*F the first night, the next day it was up to 78.4*F then I turned off the heaters and a day later it was sitting at 76.2*F. I set the heaters to 76 and plugged them back in.

I'll get some pics today :)

I keep forgetting to grab my camera to take some nice pics, here are some from my phone

The blue hippos we added were staying in their rock and I was worried about them not eating so I brought my pair of occelaris clowns from home in and it did the trick! The blue hippos are still a bit shy and will make a bee-line to their rock if you walk by too quickly but I think with some more time they will be more outgoing.

I was so excited it worked I sent the pic to a couple of my friends and they made a comment now its like finding nemo, which completely escaped my mind lol. I wanted to use chromis but my dad didn't want them in his tank. I think my clowns miss their spot in my reef though, and their anemone.

MrGone,

If you need a RBTA, let me know. I have several dinner plate sized anemones still available.

Sweet, will do if my Dad decides to go that route, I think he wants to go with a carpet of some sort but no decisions have been made. We have a couple weeks before the lights come in. I will definitely keep that in mind.

The Vortechs finally came, now we are waiting on the lights and it'll be time to start dropping in some corals! :)

I'll try to take some more pics tomorrow of the tank, I kind of made a sand storm tonight.

Sorry things have been very hectic for me lately.

The LED stuff came in last week, here is me testing the lighting for the refugium

Getting an idea for mounting the power supplies and drivers and how I'm going to wire it all

Started wiring :) The light arrays will connect using 7 CAT6 wires, along with the rheostats to control the brightness.

I am going to bolt the board to the underside of the tank above the fresh water storage container.

dang dude....I should be trying to talk you into coming over and helping me with my tank. Geesh....nice work.

Thanks! Honestly I am kind of looking forward to taking a break and enjoying the tanks for a while. Between helping rebuild this tank and building out my fish tank room at home I haven't had a chance to actually enjoy an aquarium in a while as bad as that sounds.

But I am ecstatic to say I am on the home stretch of getting the LED lighting setup built. All I have left to do is mount the lights in the canopy (and the refugium light under the stand), cut holes for the fans and then crimp the RJ45's on the end of the cables and I'll be done! (err ok and finish the rheostat box but I haven't figured out where and how I'm going to mount them yet).

So here are the brains of the operation: Ports 1-7 power the LEDs and the fans and ports 11 and 12 are for the rheostats (there are 6 of them, one per driver).

Alright so I finally had some time to install the LEDs on the tank. I still need to finish up but it is looking pretty good so far. I'll have to start bringing some coral frags over once I recheck the calc/alk/mag levels.

Here is the whites on full power, blues turned down

This will be bolted under the stand with the rheostats mounted on the wall
