"Mrs. Sage's pickling lime"

I have a few of the Aptasia in my tank. Two are really tiny
and one is getting big.. hard to get to, but doable.

I've tried the boiling water but I think it didnt work on
all or made more?

Does the pickling lime work well or is it worth it to
buy something else?

I use Mother's Pickling Lime. I recently tried AiptasiaX and had good results with it...I thought....lol. I've since gone back to Mother's Pickling Lime. I think if the Aiptasiax were thicker, it'd work much better. It is a good product, but you'll need to turn off pump to use it. It's just too thin and blows everywhere.

I think I'll look for the picking lime at the store. Plus I can go get it. UPS and Fedx wont come up our road yet!

Unfortunately, it's a bit difficult to find at grocery stores or Walmart, this time of year. Not really Pickling or Canning season. I believe I've seen it in Kevin's store, for sale. Barbie may have it as well. In the summer/fall, stock up on it from Walmart!! That's what I'm wishing I'd have done. My last can is about empty.

No luck at Trading company.. I looked at walgreens and super one while I was doing errands..
I was hoping maybe one of those might have it.
They are all down to the basics in canning, just the jars, salt and such.

I think it's been said many times in the past but Kalkwasser works real well. This is what I do when and if I see the critters.

1) Mix 1 table spoon of kalk in 1/2 cup of ro/di water. Stir well.
2) Using a small plastic syringe siphon out one full syringe of the mixture.
3) Turn off all pumps and allow the water to settle down.
4) Holding the syringe tip down allow the thick mixture to settle in the tip. This will be a thick gooey paste that will descend in the water column when pressure is applied.
5) Locate target Aptasia. While holding the syringe above the little vermin apply slight pressure to syringe allowing just enough of the thick paste to fall into the mouth of the little vermin. They will grab it.
6) Sit back and watch the lil' buggers melt away like the wicked witch of the West.

Note: Do not use the goo too close to other inhabitants and only use enough to allow them to eat it. They will. You can even nudge the Aptasia a bit to encourage retraction once they have taken the bait. Do not blast them apart or they will spread.
