you mean for the amonia stuff, i have stuff for saltwater but im not going to use chemicals anymore unless i have to i get my sump here i a couple days and ill be hooking that up :p and then my closed loop setup

your on the right track !!
Your just doing it all backwards!! As I did!
I set the tank up cycled it put stuff in and THEN learned I was doing it ALL WRONG!
Then I've been scrambling forever trying to get things dialed in right!
I'm almost there!

yeah i know it sucks but o well and then ill have my sump soon and my buddy an i figured a way to make it fit but for the time being it will be outside just hope the dogs dont drink it haha then ill be selling my canister filters :p and the skimmer when i get my new one lol
and my lion is out hunting again so i know hes doing much better

hey just took a picture of my clown doing what she loves to do best which is stay in her home sry i didnt want to turn on my lighs cause my lion was out hunting :p

Well for the last post of the night i hope all will be well over night got my fingers crossed :). heres the parameters

temp 78* and has been for a couple hours after i turned off my lights so i think i might have that problem fixed :p
ph:8.3
nitrite:0ppm
amonia tested with two different test kits: 0ppm :)
phosphate: finally 0ppm
salinity: 1.022 im trying to slowly bring it up
nitrate :(: is at 5 to 10

and im already going to be doing a water change tmr about 10 gallons or so im gonna stop by aqaurium paradise after work to get some salt water and all cause i have a 5 gal mixing over night . and i want to do 5 gal a day for the next couple days it wont hurt none anyways and be good for the tank. :p
well wish my tank luck tonight

yeah i know man haha i need to buy an ro/di lol so i dont have to keep on bugging adam(myteemouse) haha

so what was the diagnosis on the Nh4? where the hell did that come from?

is this tank established?

water changes need to be matched in temp and salinity. If you dont have a refractometer go get one... and get a small bottle of calibration fluid...

you temp swing is rather large also..

yeah the tank had been established for several years and when moved to my house for a couple months now and i did a lateral transer over here. yeah ive been matching my salinity and temp on my water changes as best possible.

and i have the temp pretty much stable at 78 :) and no clue where the nh4 is coming from esp cause i have no amonia traces so idk. but im doing 5 percent water changes this whole week and then back to 10% on the weekends.

hey just to give an update on the situation i lost a turbo snail :( darn but thats all the other fish are moving around alot more and i even attached a picture of my lion hes so big and i like it lol . sorry that the picture sucks its with my phone and i had the lights off cause they been on all day

correct me if im wrong Nh4 is ammonia (total)

over feeding, with a combo of lack of water changes..

i dont know about your tank... but ill be honest my tank is under pound per rocked/gal
and ive beat the hell outta my tank.... from time to time.. never saw Nh4

maybe you lost a fish and had a domino effect?
keep up the water changes.. (only if correct) you should be able to back to back em...

what salt do you use? just by chance.

i can do water changse as fast as i can bring the temp of the RODI up..

I maintain my RODI holding tank at 81.. i run all my systems at 80..

i never really got in to the % thing with Wc's, more less i do 10g ever 3 days on my 30, and 5 on my 10 once a week...

never lost anything.. i almost dont have to acclamate between tanks.... dont do as i do for it is bad practice.. but feel it out....

Im woundering where the ammonia came from.... somethings missing.

yeah my bad lol on the nh4 i did have a little problem because there is some debris from food on the bottom but im designing a CL system and im getting a sump tonight hopefully to get rid of my canister and go with a refugium and i had and have nitrate and i have about 150 to 200 lbs of LR in a 100 gallon tank so im good on that one. but im doing water changes just to make sure it is more stable and its good to go just as a precautionary. thats all

sounds like your heavyl over feeding...

dont let your fish fool you... there not starveing.. there just smart and they know that if thy give you the "hey where starveing" act you will feed them.

Well just so everyone knows the tank is back to normal :) and this weekend im going to start work on my closed loop system and getting my sump/fuge rdy to be installed thanks again for the tank kris and ill take pictures for everyone to see wish me luck and il prob be calling adam for some help with my sump have to add some baffels and stuff
