Some tell me it is the easiest propogation and they don't know how to stop it/slow it down? yet i never been able to make this happen... i got a couple of mshrooms but wondering how best to spread them? do they need to be in direct light/shade/...? thanks!

I think a lot of it depends on the individual type of mushroom. I have several kinds. My blue and green-striped mushrooms multiply quickly and pop up all over the tank. I have some spotted mushrooms that multiply more slowly and only spread out from where they are already attached. And I have three purple bullseye mushrooms that seem healthy but are still about the same size as they were 10 years ago.
